The RangeFinder™ Plugin for SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards and Xcelsius will enable your organization to quickly and easily identify how a key performance indicator (KPI) compares to what is typical for that metric. All you need to do is point RangeFinder to your data and it does the rest!

If you are serious about creating dashboards and visualizations that instantly show where a metric stands, RangeFinder is a must-have for your developer toolbox.

Key Features

Easily visualize how a value compares to what's typical for that metric

RangeFinder Data Panel

In the example above, we are able to richly visualize numerous pieces of information about the length of our claims, all while utilizing minimal screen real estate.

We are able to see that:

  • The average length of a claim for the selected division is 38 days, which falls within the range of what is typical for that measure
  • Our target length of claim is 30 days
  • We are trending downward towards that goal
  • The average length of claim by division typically falls within the range of 24 and 46 days
  • Our shortest length of claim is 21 days
  • Our longest length of claim is 68 days

Proprietary data analysis algorithm

RangeFinder Data Panel

RangeFinder incorporates a proprietary algorithm to calculate a 'typical' range for a population of data. To prevent outliers from skewing your results, you can also specify the percentage of core data to incorporate into the range calculation—thereby determining the width of the range.

A departure from the way most other SAP BusinessObjects Dashboard/Xcelsius components work, RangeFinder incorporates this logic directly into the plugin so you don't need to create lengthy calculations in the Excel model to derive these metrics. With RangeFinder, all you need to do is select your set of data and go!

Complete control over the look and feel

RangeFinder Data Panel

As SAP BusinessObjects Dashboard/Xcelsius developers ourselves, we know how important it is to have complete control over how your dashboard looks and feels. That's why we built so much design flexibility into the RangeFinder Plugin.

Nearly every aspect of RangeFinder can be configured through either hardcoding values in the Properties sheet or through binding to a dynamic data cell. Change fonts, sizes and colors. Set color coding for alerts. Turn metrics on and off. You can even customize how the tooltips look.

With RangeFinder, you have complete control over your masterpiece.
