Mentoring for Project to Transition From Legacy Reporting System to Business Objects

A major health care insurerThe client and its affiliates provide health benefit services to more than 3.2 million members across the mid-Atlantic region.
The Challenge
The client needed to divest itself from one of its legacy systems due to its costly maintenance fee structure. Pursuant to company goals of empowering its end-users with easy-to-use reporting solutions, the client required assistance in transitioning to the latest release of Business Objects. Training and assistance was needed for both the IT and end-user communities.The Solution
An analysis of the challenges was made and solutions were implemented in concert with internal IT resources. Detailed, step-by-step instructions were provided and several training sessions were conducted to facilitate transfer of toolset knowledge as well as data-specific solutions.As part of this effort, Altek Solutions:
- Evaluated the challenges faced by internal IT staff
- Interviewed key legacy system ‘power-users’ to gain an understanding of their reporting needs
- Made recommendations concerning the structure of the source DB system
- Suggested and documented specific reporting techniques which were typical of end-user reporting needs
- Conducted general product training
- Provided hands-on assistance and targeted training as needed
